A Good Clean of The Pantry!
Since staying at home is essential to everyone's health and safety, we need to rethink our daily activities. Why not seize the opportunity to (finally!) do some of those household chores we've unfortunately often, too often, put off or put off lacking time?
Here's the home activity we're proposing today:
CLEANING AND ORGANIZING YOUR PANTRY*!

This exercise will not only help you enjoy a clean and tidy pantry, but will also help you see clearly when it's time to make your grocery list.
So crank up your favourite music, roll up your sleeves and let's get started!
HERE ARE THE 5 STEPS TO OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE:
1. EMPTY TO FILL!
Take out all the contents of your pantry and place them on your counter or kitchen table. You're sure to find a few things you didn't know you needed!
2. A GOOD CLEAN-UP IS IN ORDER!
Now that the space is empty, it's time for a thorough clean-up. To achieve this, you'll need clean cloths and a cleaning product.
Cloths
To make sure you capture all dust, dirt and grime, the use of a microfiber cloth is a must - all our housekeeping experts would highly recommend it! However, if you don't have a microfiber cloth, don't worry - just use whatever cloths, rags, or dishcloths you have on hand. These must, of course, be perfectly clean, and you should opt for cloths made of an absorbent material.
Cleaning Products
The use of ecological, non-harmful and non-toxic cleaning products is recommended, indeed essential. But if you don't have any, a simple mixture of cold water and soda or vinegar is an excellent alternative. It's important to avoid toxic products and detergents, or any scented products, as these may alter the taste of your food.
Be sure to wash and clean everything from top to bottom. Start with the upper shelves and work your way down to the lower shelves and pantry floor.
3. THE INVENTORY YOU NEED!
With the contents of your pantry in full view, now's the perfect time to take inventory.
Get rid of foodstuffs that seem to have expired, and those that are past their best-before date.
This inventory will come in extremely handy when you have to make your next grocery lists!
4. STRATEGIC ORGANIZATION
Group items and foods by category:
- Pasta
- Canned goods
- Herbs and spices
- Oils and vinegars
- Dry ingredients for cooking and baking
- Teas and coffees
- Breakfast products
- Etc.
Group according to your logic - to each his own! 😉
5. FILL IT UP, PUT IT AWAY!
Now that your pantry is clean, and you know all the items that make up your inventory, It's time to fill your pantry in an orderly fashion, respecting the food groups determined in step 4.
Place the foods you use most frequently on easily accessible shelves.
To ensure that the beautiful arrangement you're making will last forever (can we dream? 😉) use large containers, such as baskets, to place and group small or medium-sized items.
This is where plastic containers whose lids you've misplaced, or shoeboxes lined with adhesive paper of all kinds, can come in handy! Be imaginative!
Keep in mind that the main idea behind tidying up is to be able to quickly find anything you might need.
TIPS
Use Colour!
Using colored containers and labels can make filing and searching much easier!
Shelves for Added Storage
Do you have a tiny pantry or just a few cupboards? Adding wall-mounted shelves can be an excellent solution to this lack of storage space. You can store all kinds of containers on them, and match their style and colors to your decor. Combine the useful with the pleasurable!
Decorate Your Pantry
Once you've cleaned your pantry (step 3), if you feel like it, it's time to give it a lick of paint or cover your shelves with protective adhesive film in the colors and patterns of your choice!
